About 20,000 of Russians use MNP service in first two months
MOSCOW, Feb 5 (PRIME) -- About 20,000 of Russians have changed their mobile operators since December 1, 2013, when the mobile number portability (MNP) service was introduced in the country, according to data provided by the Central Research Institute of Telecommunications on Tuesday.
The institute also said that about 80,000 users filed applications to change their operators in December and January.
According to Advanced Communications and Media (AC&M) research and consulting firm, Russia’s mobile subscriber base amounted to around 234 million users as of late June 2013, as calculated by the number of valid SIM cards.
The MNP service allows mobile users to switch from one operator to another without changing their phone numbers.
